Snippet from Book

I was aware of the red cloud's awesome telepathic abilities, but the visions I was receiving were incredible. The red cloud knew everything about Enigma's history and now that knowledge was being passed to me on a cellular level. I saw the past in my dreams, but now I was seeing the events in real time in my mind's eye. I felt no pain, only a sense of wonder as my mind was given access to everything that was hidden from me up until this very moment. The colony was preparing for a war. Yuka Sato and Edward Grant were assembling a powerful invasion force the likes of which no one had ever seen. The military preparations gave a rapid boost of employment, but they could not be disguised from Freedom Island's intelligence operatives.

Warships were being loaded at the ports with supplies and munitions and their crews going through military drills. The factories switched into a temporary war mode, producing weapons, equipment, and spare parts. Thousands of specially equipped, imperial marines were conducting seaborne invasion training. The colonial police were placed on high alert to hunt down saboteurs and hostile parties. I could see everything the enemy could throw at us, but there was more. Not too far from Black Mountain, Yuka Sato's imperial palace retreat, there was an object of vital importance. In my mind I could see it clearly.

The giant domes of the combat robot production factories loomed over the greenery like shells of enormous turtles. They were surrounded by lethal defenses: minefields, traps, automated weapons emplacements, and heavily armed robot guards. The war machines were of the same models like those that attacked Cardinal Messer's settlement, but among them on the assembly lines were new types that resembled metal spiders bristling with cannons and flamethrowers. I could see the huge assembly lines, robotic arms moving fluently and efficiently, machines assembling other machines.

About This Great Book

3,500 A.D.—ENDGAME

Professor Peter Blackwood has managed to escape the wrath of the powerful overlords. Brought back from the edge of death by the red cloud and assisted by the rebel smugglers, he finds refuge on exotic Freedom Island. Protected by the island's magical soil that turns overlords into mortals, Blackwood should feel safe. But he cannot hide there forever.

Overlord Empress Yuka Sato and her chief henchman Edward Grant are preparing a massive invasion of Freedom Island. Torn between his love for his overlord mentor and lover Sachiko Nomura, and strong-willed and fierce tribal warrior Lita Sandir, Blackwood finds a new source of spiritual and physical strength to complete his mission. Now he is more than a man; he is a living and enduring symbol of revolution....

As the fate of planet Enigma hangs in the balance, Blackwood must fight for survival and the lives of all he holds dear. Deep under the island's surface, inside an underground labyrinth protected by monsters of ancient legend, Blackwood must find and unleash the Heart of the Sun, an ancient super weapon that will end the rule of the overlords forever.

It's time for Blackwood to finish the game and reveal his true destiny.

From A Review

If you read Planet of Gods, you will love David Crane's sequel, Planet of Men. In the second book, the protagonist, Peter Blackwood, continues to battle immortal beings that are determined to stop him from fulfilling his destiny. The author's strength is his characters, which he so aptly describes. Once again he spins an absorbing tale, one filled with a set of wonderfully colorful people who live in a very different kind of world, a place that is filled with not only beauty, but an evil that defies explanation.
